ABOUT
RENUKA & SUBBA
India-born Singapore citizens Renuka and Subba met in the verdant IIM Bangalore campus as MBA students in the year 1986. After long years in the financial services industry, two daughters and a move to Singapore more than 20 years ago, they gave in to this crazy idea of opening a wellness retreat in Bali, Indonesia. The retreat slowly took shape and Subba and Renuka were ready for their second innings!
BeingSattvaa has been set up with the notion of letting you immerse yourselves in an authentic wellness experience – it is not a typical vacation spa or resort – it is much more. Whether you are here for a short stay, a week, or a fortnight, you can soak yourselves in our magical realm and feel the difference. BeingSattvaa (essence or goodness in Sanskrit) blends ancient Eastern wisdom and sensibilities with modern teachings to create a unique, contemporary wellness experience for the mind and body.
It has been conceptualised and created by Renuka, a life-long city dweller. A once-upon-a-time corporate warrior, Renuka has a deep awareness of the stresses of corporate life and its negative impact on well being. Introduced to Yoga and Pranayama more than 25 years ago, she has been practicing Yoga and a healthy lifestyle for about two decades. Inspired by the change in her life brought about by a healthy lifestyle, she set about creating a small space for like-minded people who were desirous of healthy living and well being. Thus BeingSattvaa was born. Every brick, stone, tile, flower and landscaping feature has been hand chosen by her to add to your feeling of tranquility and harmony.
Subba is an experienced mindfulness practitioner and corporate leader, who left his executive leadership role after three decades of corporate life to focus on preparing leaders and organisations for a fast-changing world.
He has a deep personal practice of yoga and meditation spanning 20 years. His fifteen years of annual practice of silence & solitude has been the source of many of the programs that he runs today. He has worked extensively, as a corporate leader, in Asia and the Middle East and brings into the program his personal experience of integrating mindfulness practice into high pressured corporate life.
In addition to being the co-founder of BeingSattvaa he is also the founder of Being, a mindfulness based program that empowers people to live their best lives.
EXPERIENCE
The architecture at BeingSattvaa blurs the lines between inside and outside in a seamless way- this is made possible because our temperatures remain between 20-30 degrees through the year. All living spaces are connected to nature; water, landscape and building come together in a harmonious way. Using a sparse palette of materials with a predominance of dark wood, our buildings radiate positive energy.
At BeingSattvaa, we begin each day with an appreciation for all that we’ve been given. You can relax and let yourself stroll through our sprawling gardens, feeling the blades of grass in between your toes and taking in the scent of the flowers around. You can take a moment to unplug – listen to the songs of the birds, the buzz of bees and butterflies and the whisper of the wind; you can wander around our ample fruit and vegetable garden taking in the sights of the majestic coconut palms, the swaying banana plants, the lush jackfruit trees and many more…
At BeingSattvaa, we incorporate a routine that includes the four pillars of wellness: Exercise, Nutrition, Mindfulness Practice and Rest and Relaxation.
